Taken from a sculpture by Giovanni Nakpil, I did this pencil study as part of the "New Bargue" figure drawing workshop at CGTalk.

I wanted to capture as much of the character as I could, keep a diverse tonal range, and get it done in an afternoon. The measurements were basic 'thumb and pencil' as ruler with a final proportion check with a window in place of a lightbox before committing to heavy darks.
